(KDKA) – The winning numbers for Monday’s $1.55 billion Powerball jackpot have been announced.
The winning numbers are 16, 34, 46, 55 and 67 and 14 with Powerball 3X Power Play.
Original story below.
The Powerball jackpot jumped to an estimated $1.55 billion for Monday night’s drawing after no one matched the game’s six numbers for Saturday’s grand prize.
The $1.55 billion prize is for the sole winner, with annual checks over 30 years, paid out through an annuity. Most jackpot winners choose cash, which is estimated at $679.8 million.
The jackpot is now the fourth-biggest US lottery prize after 34 consecutive drawings since someone last won the top prize on July 19. That streak follows the record of 41 draws set in 2021 and 2022. The biggest US jackpot is a $2.04 billion Powerball prize won by a player in California in November 2022.
The paucity of Powerball jackpot winners reflects the game’s long odds of 1 in 292.2 million, which are designed to make winning rare so that the big prizes grow larger.
Federal taxes accrue on winnings, and some states tax large lottery prizes.
Powerball is played in 45 states as well as Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
