SpaceX is set to launch another Falcon 9 rocket into SoCal skies – NBC Los Angeles

SpaceX created a dazzling display on Saturday when it launched another rocket into the skies of Southern California.

As part of the company's Starlink mission, a Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from the Vandenberg Space Force Base shortly before 7:30 p.m. It carried 21 Starlink Internet satellites into low Earth orbit.

Saturday's launch follows SpaceX's Monday evening launch, which made for a stunning show in the sky after being delayed by inclement weather that included rain and wind.

Rocket launches after sunset and before sunrise usually offer the best views of the sun's rays reflecting against the dark sky in the background.

SpaceX has the Starlink suite of satellites more than 340 miles around Earth, launched into space by the company's rockets. The Starlink network is designed to provide high-speed Internet anywhere in the world.

If the lighting conditions are right, the satellites appear in a train marching across the night sky. Satellites are sometimes visible in the first few minutes after sunset and before sunrise when the sun is below the horizon, but satellites are high enough to reflect direct sunlight.
