Powerball ticket sales continue to grow in St. Joseph, Mo., Monday, July 17, 2023, with no winner selected in the previous drawing.

ST Joseph. Mo. – The Powerball jackpot jumped back to $1 billion after no winning tickets were sold for the latest drawing.
5, 8, 9, 17, 41 and red Powerball 2 with white balls No ticket matched for Monday’s drawing. The jackpot was estimated at $900 million.
The new jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing will be the third-highest in U.S. history and will continue to grow until someone wins. Ticket buyers have the option of paying $1 billion in annual increases or a one-time lump sum of $516.8 million before taxes.
Lottery officials said three people won $2 million after matching five numbers and a power play. Winning tickets were sold in Arkansas, Georgia and Texas.
Five people who matched all five numbers won $1 million. Winning tickets were sold in Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, New York and Pennsylvania.
The game’s worst odds are 1 in 292.2 million designed to create huge prizes that attract more players. The largest Powerball jackpot was last November’s $2.04 billion Powerball.
The last time someone won the Powerball jackpot was on April 19, nearly $253 million. Since then, no one has won the big prize in the last 38 consecutive drawings.
Before the next Powerball drawing, lottery players can try their odds with Mega Millions. The estimated jackpot Tuesday is $640 million, or $328 million in cash before taxes.
Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
