A manslaughter investigation has been launched after seven people died aboard the Bayesian superyacht that sank off the coast of Sicily.
Italian public prosecutor Ambrogio Cardozio, from the nearby town of Termini Imeris, said he had opened a preliminary investigation into manslaughter and negligent shipwreck. No specific suspects have been named yet.
At a press conference, lawyers were asked about the Bayesian panel’s responsibilities considering all but one.
Prosecutors said they were “focusing on this particular aspect”.

Tributes have been paid to Hannah Lynch, who died with her father on a superyacht.
Bayesian’s chief steward Sasha Murray, who was rescued from the boat, described Hannah as “a diamond in a sea of stars”.

Morgan Stanley chairman Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judith Bloomer, Clifford Chance attorney Christopher Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo also died on the boat.

Mike Lynch ‘became like family,’ says former court-appointed guardian
A court-appointed armed guard tasked with making sure Mike Lynch doesn’t go into hiding while facing fraud charges has paid tribute to the tech mogul, saying the security team has “become less detailed and more like family”.
Rollo Igno described Mr Lynch’s daughter Hannah as “a memory of a beautiful soul”.
Mr Igno said he had the “privilege” of spending “every waking moment” with Mr Lynch while he was in custody in San Francisco, describing it as a “life-changing” detail unlike anyone else he worked with.
“As an executive security agent, the number one rule is simple, don’t get too close to the president,” he said.
“They’re not your friends, they’re a client and the relationship is strictly professional. But with Mike, that didn’t fly with him, and for me that reign quickly dissolved.

A tribute to ‘genius’ storyteller Mike Lynch
Susanna Gurdoon, a close family friend of the Lynches from Suffolk, shared heartfelt stories about Mike Lynch and who he was beyond being one of Britain’s biggest technologists.
Ms Gurdoon spoke of her “fantastic ability” to explain difficult and complex concepts in a way that people could easily understand.
His wife, Angela Bakeres, and his daughters told Mrs Gurdoon of his ability to “conjure up beautiful stories out of thin air”.
The next evening, Mr. Lynch told a story as the dinner plates were cleared about a hero about the age of Mrs. Gurdoon’s son going on adventures in search of treasure. She called it “magic.”
He added that he was not surprised to learn that Hanna had begun to show “serious literary promise”.
