Officials say Four University of Idaho students were killed His attorney told CBS News that he was willing to waive his extradition hearing in November. Brian Kohberger28, to face a judge for a hearing on Tuesday.
Kohberger is expected to sign the document in front of a judge on Tuesday, said Monroe County Chief Public Defender Jason Lauper.
The four victims — Ethan Chapin, 20, of Conway, Washington; Chana Kernodle, 20, of Avondale, Arizona; Madison Mohan, 21, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and Kaley Goncalves, 21, of Rathdrum, Idaho — were found dead Nov. 13 in Kernodle, the home Mohan and Goncalves shared with two other roommates.
Authorities announced Kohberger’s arrest The case, on Friday, gained national attention and has drawn intense speculation on social media over the past six weeks.
“With the focus on this case obviously, I think Idaho is already ready and willing to take him back,” LaBar said.
He said Kohberger could return to the state within 72 hours of the trial, depending on when Idaho officials can arrive.
Labar, who said he was only representing Kohberger for extradition, said he would give authorities 10 days to pick him up.
“But I imagine it will happen very quickly,” he said.
Kohberger, who was arrested in Pennsylvania on a fugitive warrant, faces four counts of first-degree murder and felony robbery, Idaho officials said Friday. Moscow Police Chief James Fry said Friday that state law limits what information about the investigation they can release because the probable cause report is sealed until Kohberger appears in an Idaho court.
LaBarr said Saturday that he had no details of the investigation to share.
“I specifically told him that since I’m the only one representing him in deportation, I don’t want to discuss anything other than what happens at the deportation hearing. I don’t have a probable cause affidavit, just like everybody else,” LaBarr said.
