Coroner identifies cause of death of Campbellsville University student

A coroner has identified the cause of death in an unresponsive Campbellsville University student's residence


The Taylor County Coroner has determined the cause of death of a Campbellsville University student who was found unresponsive in a dorm room. According to the coroner, Josiah Gilman, 18, died of manual strangulation. The video in the player above is from the day Gilman died. Police say Gilman was found unresponsive in a dorm room just before 1 a.m. Saturday. He was taken to Taylor Regional Hospital, where he died. On Saturday evening, Kentucky State Police and Greene County Police arrested Charles Escalera, 21, after an arrest warrant. They said they received a call about a suspicious person at the barn at the Taylor and Greene county line. Escalera is being held at the Taylor County Detention Center. He faces murder charges for Gilman's death.
