Izzy Nix is ”so proud” of husband Bo Nix, who was named the Broncos’ starting quarterback on Wednesday.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Izzy — who has been married to the 24-year-old rookie since 2022 — posted a message of support for the former Oregon star after Denver coach Sean Payton announced the Knicks as QB1.
“Very proud of him,” Izzy said in response to an NFL post about the progress in Denver.
She also added the Bible verse from Proverbs 16:3, “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be fulfilled.”
Nicks, the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has impressed during training camp and the Broncos’ preseason games.
Last week against the Packers, Nicks completed 8-of-9 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown in a 27-2 victory.
“I came out here and felt really comfortable the first few plays that were called,” Nicks said Sunday. According to ProFootballTalk. “They kept it within my comfort level, which is huge, especially for someone who’s trying to get in there and execute. You want to run the plays you’re comfortable with, and that’s what coach Payton called tonight.
The Knicks lost veteran Jared Stidham, who started the final two games for the Broncos last season, and Zach Wilson, an April arrival following a trade from the Jets.
“I felt, I told you this two weeks ago, you know, that room was great. Stidham, certainly with his experience, and then being able to work with Zach Wilson, those three. We’ve made some tough decisions coming into the roster,” Peyton said Wednesday. to NFL.com.
Nicks is now the first rookie to start for the Broncos at quarterback since John Elway.
“Obviously, it’s great to share with a great player like John Elway,” said Nicks, who was the fifth quarterback taken in the first round of April’s draft.
“It doesn’t matter when your first start is. It doesn’t matter if you want to wait or go now, you want to go out there and have success and ultimately compete at a high level. … So my goal at the beginning is to give our team the best chance to win games.
The Broncos open the season on Sept. 8 in Seattle against the Seahawks.
