Steelers QB Russell Wilson is expected to start Sunday night and the Jets.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson is expected to take first-team reps in practice this week and start Sunday night against the New York Jets. According to a report From NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Although Pelizzero indicated that Wilson was in line to start, head coach Mike Tomlin stopped short of officially naming him the starter when media became available on Tuesday.

“During the week, I felt comfortable about his ability to perform well. He’s being considered this week. We’ll see where it goes,” Tomlin said.

Wilson, 35, has not played for the Steelers this season. the season

Fields has filled in nicely in Wilson’s absence as he has completed 66.3% of his passes for 1,106 yards and five passing touchdowns to one interception. He added 231 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

While the Steelers have done enough to win many games this season, the passing game still leaves much to be desired. The Steelers hope Wilson can provide a little more through the air to take down that part of the offense.

At worst, the Steelers can always go back to Fields, who has done well in Wilson’s absence.

In 15 games with the Denver Broncos last season, Wilson completed 66.4% of his passes for 3,070 yards and 26 touchdowns to eight interceptions.
