Davante Adams wants out of Las Vegas.
The Raiders wide receiver, who has been linked to the Jets for some time, has informed the organization that he wants to be traded. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
While a deal doesn’t seem imminent, the news comes amid growing speculation that Adams’ time in Sin City is coming to an end soon. .
“I can only control this conversation we are having here. And then, after we do this, the next thing I can control is the next thing I have to do,” Adams said during an interview on “Up & Adams with Kay Adams” Tuesday morning.
“I’ll get up in a minute and get a good workout in, and that’s all I can control.”
Despite Adams’ repeated assurances that he was committed to the Raiders, rumors linking the Jets and Adams continued.
Now that things seem to have turned around in Las Vegas, the two sides are likely to reconnect, especially after Kay Adams asked him about the disappearance of Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“How could you not?” Adams replied.
After a screenshot appeared on social media showing Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce liking a post on Instagram, chatter about the Adams move seemed to increase over the previous 24 hours.
Additionally, a report by the Las Vegas Review-Journal published Tuesday cited a league source as saying the Raiders are open to the idea of trading Adams and that the relationship between the Raiders coach and the star wide receiver has soured.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Vegas “Consider” a trade package That includes a second-round pick and additional compensation.
During an interview Tuesday morning, Adams said he hadn’t heard from his head coach and was “not sure exactly what it was” about the Instagram post.
“It’s one of those situations where I just keep my head down and do my thing and let the chips fall where they may,” Adams said. “There’s been no contact with anyone from the group since it became a thing, but it’s like weekly, ‘What’s up with Tae?’ Thing is, it’s always some kind of drama, but at the end of the day, 17 doesn’t make any of it.
“So, people can say whatever they want, but I’m cool and I’m trying to be a model for not stirring the pot and locking up and doing what I have to do.”
Adams said Tuesday that it’s “annoying” to hear his name thrown around in constant trade speculation, though it’s not likely to die down anytime soon.
The relationship between Adams and Rodgers dating back to their days together in Green Bay has certainly driven some of the speculation surrounding the receiver who might come to New York.
While Adams pushed back on the idea that he was the driving force behind rumors of a possible reunion with Rodgers, he waxed poetic about the man he called a teammate for eight seasons with the Packers.
“The thought of playing with Aaron is amazing,” Adams said on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast in July. “I already know what it’s going to be like — it’s like why I came here and reconnected with Derek [Carr] Because I was familiar with him. Whenever you want, it gives you a little more confidence than starting from scratch with someone you’ve never played before, and it helps when they’re good at playing the game – or at least that’s how I feel. I don’t know how you feel about that, but I sure do [Rodgers has] I got a chance to show the world what I can do.
Adams had 669 catches, 8,121 yards and 73 touchdowns in those eight seasons with Rodgers in Green Bay.
This season, Adams has 18 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown with the Raiders. He missed last Sunday’s game against the Browns after missing practice on Thursday with a hamstring problem.
