In parts of Southern California, cleanup is underway as people prepare for more rain, high winds and snow further north.
Wind advisories and flood watches remain in effect for the San Francisco Bay Area Wednesday as high storm surge conditions and flooding continued.
Severe weather has battered communities, leaving homes and businesses underwater, sweeping away vehicles, opening massive sinkholes and causing blackouts. Dangerous floods, overflowing rivers and landslides have been reported across the state.
At least 17 people have died due to the extreme weather. The search resumed on Wednesday for a five-year-old boy who was forced to escape from their flooded vehicle.
Storms have claimed more lives in California than wildfires combined in the past two years combined.
Putting a Price Tag on California Storms
The latest storms to hit California are going to leave more than trees and flooded neighborhoods.
There is also going to be a big bill for cleaning up the state and economic recovery.
The weather may have caused $30 to $34 billion worth of damage across the state, according to Accuweather Inc. and Bloomberg. reports.

Woman found dead in submerged car in Sonoma
The California hurricane death toll continues to rise.
A woman was found dead inside a submerged car in Forestville on Wednesday, according to ABC News, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. reports.
Daphne Fontino, 43, was buried about 100 feet from the roadway under 8 to 10 feet of water, authorities said.

A reminder: the drought isn’t over yet
Despite apocalyptic rain and flooding across California, the state’s historic drought is far from over.

Boy, 4, and two adults rescued by Good Samaritans after Tesla crashes into California swimming pool
Three people, including a four-year-old boy, were dramatically rescued by Good Samaritans Tesla He drowned in the swimming pool California.
The fatal crash happened around 9 a.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of West California Boulevard in Pasadena, according to the Pasadena Fire Department.
Two adults and a boy were traveling in a Tesla when the driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the car to crash through a wall and into the home’s swimming pool, authorities said.
