German Police have arrested an Iranian national on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack, authorities in the country said on Sunday.

Police in the western city of Munster said the 32-year-old was believed to have bought an unspecified amount of cyanide and ricin in preparation for an “Islamist-inspired attack”.

According to police, the suspect was arrested following an investigation by the North Rhine-Westphalia Central Office for Terrorism, a unit of the Düsseldorf public prosecutor’s office.

Holger Hemming of the Düsseldorf public prosecutor’s office told Reuters that “serious information” from the security agency of a “friendly state” prompted police to intervene at night.

Police seized electronic storage devices, but a search of the suspect’s home in the town of Castrop-Rauxel found no cyanide or ricin, Hemming told the news agency.

Police said the investigation is on and one more person has been arrested in connection with the case.

According to Reuters, Hemming confirmed that the detained man was the suspect’s brother, and police said a decision would be made later on whether to issue an official arrest warrant.
